Matar Mushroom

I don't really like this dish because of mushrooms but my husband really relishes mushroom. I have been trying to make one of his liking but always failed until recently during my mother in laws visit, i saw her preparing that. I prepared it that way and it turned out yummy. He was also very happy. Now i have added some of my seasoning so that it turns out to be one like we get in Indian marriages and functions.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Mushroom pack
  • 1.5 cup peas
  • 2 Onions
  • 3-4 Tomatoes
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • a small ginger, finely chopped
  • 4 green Cardamoms
  • 1" cinnamon stick
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup cashewnuts(divided in half)
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly chopped coriander
Method
1. Clean, cut and wash mushrooms thoroughly in warm water for 5 min.

2. Chop onions,green chillies, ginger and garlic. Keep aside.

3. Blend tomatoes. Keep aside.

4. Heat oil in Pan.

5. Add Cardamom,Cinnamon and Cloves.

6. As soon as fragrance arises, add onions and saute until golden brown.

7. Now add ginger and garlic.

8. Add tomato puree and fry until oil starts separating.

9. Now add all dry ingredients: cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt.

10. Add Yogurt and 1 cup water.Bring to boil.

11. Add Cashewnuts.

12. Now add mushrooms and peas and let it cook on medium flame for next 20-25 min.

13. Turn off gas.

14. Garnish with coriander.


Serve hot with Rice or Roti.
